The federal government will shut down because extremists in Congress are pursuing a vendetta against Planned Parenthood. It’s not about the budget — it’s about trying to destroy an organization that provides birth control, HIV testing, and cancer screenings. It’s time to stand up. I believe that Republicans are trying to kill two birds with one stone here. They need to scale back the budget, and at the same time they will be removing something that they’re morally opposed to. (The original poster conveniently left out that planned parenthood uses government money for abortions, something that most Republicans do not like)
If I was Obama, I would try to reason with Republicans to continue to fund planned parenthood, yet ensure that not a dollar of taxpayer money goes to abortions. Is that something we could all agree on?
GAH! I don’t really like to post about politics, but I don’t understand why people don’t get that the federal government DOES NOT fund abortions. Google the Hyde Amendment. Also, abortions are only 3% of Planned Parenthoods provided services.
